I've never heard anything about it being hard on the engine but on a road course when driving hard it can be hard on the rear brakes.

That is why most people turn it off when tracking the car.

The engines on these cars are completely electronically controlled so I can't imagine how the TCS could harm anything. However, when the brakes alone can't restore traction, the TCS will start reducing power to the engine (similar to a rev limiter). It sounds and feels bad but I seriously doubt any "harm" comes from it. Unless of course you do it all the time...

The TCS system retards timing AND cuts out some fuel injector pulses, and is the only TCS mechanism available above 62 mph. Per the FSM, anyway.

I imagine that the biggest consequence would be on the exhaust gas composition (and its effect on the catalytic converter).

I try like hell to remember to shut it off every time I drive the car.

Default that makes me sleep better

Mahalo Sleeper, Red and Norm. I've got all kinds of stuff going on to this car without really doing any investigating first [typical]. tuner, exhast, transgo, intake and today I'm getting 4.10s installed.

being AWOL from the performance scene since 1980 all this electronic gizmo what-you-ma-call-it is a bit intimadating ad I dont want to do any damage to just about the nicest car I've ever owned!

so if I understand, push the button and push the pedal!!! thanks guys

Aloha,
Gil.

+1 on turning it off every time I get in the car. But I WILL turn it back on during slippery conditions (if I remember to).

If you're aspirated, having the TCS on while pulling boost can cause some damage.
