08 GT stock 17" x 8" rims. I got a great deal on four 255/45 17"s. This size should be ok, correct?

The tires are ~26"dia....which is about an 1" less than stock....won't hurt anything though.

speedo will be off a little - if you have a handheld tuner, you can correct for it though

A smaller diameter tire is going to lower the car even more. Our driveways here in wonderful LA have a curb at the end and the front scrapes when I have my smaller autocross tires on vice my larger stock. This may matter if he doesn't want the car any lower to the ground.
