Default Does the 7.5" rear end have a gasket?

I'm going to be doing the Cobra/Mach 1 rear bracket install in about a week. I'm gonna have to remove the axles so I need to take the differential cover off. I've been to o'reilys and advance auto parts and neither one of them said they even made gaskets for the 7.5 rear end - all they had were ones for the 8.8". I got some RTV sealant but I don't know if that will be enough. If I need a gasket, where do I get one from (other than the stealership)?

I just used that gasket maker stuff in the tube when I changed my diff fluid. Works pretty good and no leaks.

i got a refresh kit from yukon gear and axle.. it comes with a pan seal..

i would say that form a gasket sealent should work fine..

i might suggest you at least replace the outside axle seals and bearings if your gonna go so far as taking the axles out... relatively inexpensive and easy... only since your gonna have it apart anyway..

Where did you get the refresh kit... did it have the axle seals and bearings?

But you have a 8.8, so stuff is easier to get for yours.

I guess I'll just use some RTV sealant and be very careful with the seals and bearings. As stated, I'm just doing this so I can upgrade to 12" (technically 11.65") rotors mostly so the stock ones don't look so tiny and goofy compared to the front and it'll help with stopping power some too.

I'm actually considering getting an 8.8 just to have a t-lok without paying to install a new differential... about how much does one cost used?

they come from the factory with rtv as a gasket. just clean up the cover and housing real good and you will be fine.

I will probally never have to buy anything for the rear end again, that is unless i step down from the 3.73's sometime.

If you can get one for under $250 then I would get it, but the thing is that you don't know if the owner has beat the crap out of it.
