Default 2000 Mustang Clutch

Alright, so I found a 2000 Mustang V6, red, convertible, STICK. ( ) With 97,000 miles. We test drove the car, and checked it out and everything is great.

BUT can someone please describe what a working V6 mustang clutch feels like?

When we drove this one, we felt resistance, pedal vibration, "shaking." and it was also grabbing late, around the inch before the top of the pedal. and being a dealer car, they'll never admit to faults. the shop foreman test drove the car today and said "the clutch is fine, its because of the hydraulic mechanism causing it to grab late." i told the salesman about the pedal vibration (forgot to mention to him before) and he said he would have the head mechanic check that out. currently waiting for a call back...

Also, what would a car like this be worth? dad's mechanics said $3000. top is brand new. car has every option, including traction control, power driver seat, mach 460, only thing it doesnt have is leather.

PS they say their best offer assuming nothing is wrong with the car is $4295.

V6 mustangs have a cable clutch. I would pay around 3500 for that car.

hmm... so the mechanic is either lying or has no idea. (its a Ford at a chevy dealer) is it difficult to adjust a cable clutch?

My dad said that if "it was easy they would do it themselves, so therefore it needs a clutch" Hes been driving manuals for a very long time... but is a Mustang clutch any different? I heard that rattling is completely normal. Is it normal for it to grab so late? Our trucks (1999 and 2009 Ford Rangers) grab in the middle.

I wouldn't believe a thing they tell you baised on that right there. To adjust the cluth you put your foot under the clutch pedal and bring it all the way up. My pedal doesn't shake or anything. But mustang clutch's arn't too hard to replace.

No it ain't normal. When I cooked my clutch that's how it began. Rattling pedal. Engagement at the very top of pedal. I have a new centerforce in now with the stock ford cable and it engages at the top 1/3 of pedal and engagement is very smooth ...

There's NOTHING hydraulic on a mustang clutch, I'd ask the salesman to bring the service tech out and point out the clutch master cylinder on the car, "just in case you want to replace it later on." It's tax time, they're gonna scam everyone they can right now, it's their busiest time of the year.
