Default v6 auto same as v8 auto in every way?

My friend Mark damaged the transmission to his GT and needs a new autobox, I mentioned to him that the 6 and 8 are the same so he found one in a junkyard, but now he wants to know if there are minor differences that make the v6 transmission weaker or not a 100% bolt in.

I know the v6 has a different flange on the engine, but I'm not sure beyond that.
