wheel refinish help
My buddy bought a car that was caught in a barn fire. The car was scorched and written off and he bought it for like $200. It has a set of aftermarket chrome wheels which were scorched too. They look pretty good other than being burned. Does anybody know how to restore chrome other than rechroming them which would cost as much as a new set of wheels. So far we've tried CLR and a bunch of other chemicals seeing as he works in a body shop and nobody there can help. This is pretty much a long shot.
You guys will probably get a kick out of this because the car is a 92 Prelude, completely bastardized with stupid body kit and coffee can muffler. The car has a bored out motor (should be 140 hp...lol) and a bunch of suspension pieces. It's kind of a shame because the previous owner spent alot of time and money on this POS. The bondo peeled it got so hot and all windows shattered. But my buddy should make a few bucks off it.
Any help/opinions would be appreciated.

I would think it more expensive/trouble to repair the ones you have than replace, as you mentioned. I would also be a bit concerned that the temps may have caused some unseen damage to the structure of the wheels and may be "tempered" or something.
Replace them, IMO
