Default Luke, I need help to buy the best budget tire

I noticed the sticky note about the best tire to buy is dated 2012. Do the recommendations still stand today, 4 years later?
I am looking for the proper tire to buy in the "budget performance" section. In 2012 you suggested:

1.) Sumitomo HTR Z III
2.) Hankook Ventus V12 EVO
3.) Kumho Ecsta SPT
4.) Dunlop Direzza DZ101
5.) BF Goodrich G-Force Sport

THANKS, Dale

And I'd like to know who started that darn "fired" gossip.... ????
Lets just say I'm glad it was a hoax.

From personal experience, I really like the BF Goodrich G-Force Sport (not the "all season" version). Sticks well, lasts a long time.

Take a look at the Cooper Zeon RS/3. Comes in All season and Summer versions. Stock on Roush Mustangs and supposedly developed with input from Roush. I'm really happy with mine, so happy I bought another set. Tire Rack doesn't list Coopers on their website though

I just bought my second set of Zeons to fit my new staggered wheelset. $756 for Cooper Zeon RS3-S 255/40r19 fronts and 285/35r19 rears, minus a $60 mail in rebate. Got them from Treaddepot.com and shipped to a local installer. Shipping included in price.

Reviews comparing the Zeons to other tires:
