Matt Farah’s Mustang Heads to Hoonigan Headquarters (Video)

In this episode of the ‘Hoonigan Daily Transmission’ on YouTube, Matt Farah shows us his Fox Body Mustang build.

If you haven’t seen Matt Farah’s project car before, then you’re in for a treat. It’s taken him nearly three years to get the car built exactly how he wants it – half of that to build it, then the other half to work out all the issues. The end result is a purpose-built canyon carver, and Hoonigan got Farah to break the build down for them.

If you’ve listened to Farah’s Smoking Tire podcast, then you probably already know he loves old Mustangs. His first car was an SN95 Mustang, but much as he liked it, his heart was set on an older Fox Body.

When he got around to owning this one, he knew exactly what he wanted from it. What it should look like, how it should ride, and what it should be capable of. The end result is a mature build of a teenage dream car.

We won’t spoil the video for you, but you can already see that it’s widened, lowered and caged. There’s a good reason, and that really is just the start. This car is not a straight-line rocket, and it’s not a track monster either. This Mustang is designed for the road, and to go fast around corners.

If you want to see the car in person and happen to be in the LA area on December 2, we have it on good authority that Farah and his Mustang will be at Radwood 2, the coolest ’80s and ’90s car show on the planet.

His obsession with cars started young and has left him stranded miles off-road in Land Rovers, being lost far from home in hot hatches, going sideways in rallycross cars, being propelled forward in supercars and, more sensibly, standing in fields staring at classic cars. His first job was as a mechanic and then trained as a driving instructor before going into media production.

The automotive itch never left though, and he realized writing about cars is his true calling. However, that doesn’t stop him from also hosting the Both Hand Drive podcast.
