Coyote-swapped ’67 Mustang Masters the Art of Simplicity

By -

Incredibly-clean and tasteful classic Mustang uses modern Coyote power and thoughtful touches to really stand out.

The act of building custom cars is one often fraught with complexity. Builders must constantly think of ways to innovate and one-up each other in an effort to stay relevant and make a name for themselves. The problem with this is that many custom cars simply go too far, losing the characteristics that made them special to begin with. But that most certainly isn’t the case with this gorgeous ’67 Mustang fastback.

YouTubers AutotopiaLA got a chance to go over every inch of the beautiful green ride recently, which stands out for the many things that haven’t been done to it rather than what has. From the outside, this classic Mustang looks largely stock, save for the aftermarket yet modestly-sized wheels covering massive brake rotors. And truthfully, that’s the way it should stay. This is perhaps the most iconic Mustang body style of all-time, after all.

According to our host, that’s exactly what the owner of this gorgeous Mustang was looking for. “The owner of this car wanted it to look stock,” he explains. “But he wanted it to have more driveability. Definitely wanted to have a bit more power. Didn’t want it over the top, but he wanted something cool.”

Thus, the meat of this build lies underneath that stunning skin. There’s a second-gen Coyote swap under the hood, along with the matching trans and rear end. With headers and a Borla exhaust, it sounds great and produces around 450 horsepower. Throw in Rods and Customs A-arms and sway bars, adjustable coilovers, and Baer four-piston brakes, and you’ve got a classic Mustang that performs like a modern one.

The interior continues this simple theme with custom seats and an overly stock look. All-in-all, this ’67 Mustang is truly one of the best classic builds we’ve seen in some time. And it’s concrete proof that sometimes, simple is the best way to go.
