Can a Manual EcoBoost Mustang Massacre a C7 Corvette?

Can a Manual EcoBoost Mustang Massacre a C7 Corvette?

If you need proof that the EcoBoost inline-four is no joke, look no further than the Corvette-slayer in this video.

Whether you’re talking about F-150s or Mustangs, the debate over EcoBoost engines is never-ending. As a Ford aficionado, you likely fall into one of two categories: the first thinks the EcoBoost is a joke, and a big V8 is always the way to go. Others feel like there are some interesting things going on with the EcoBoost. While the 2.3-liter turbocharged mill found in the Mustang doesn’t have the pure power of a V8, it allows for some fast and powerful vehicles despite a smaller engine. Basically, you either love it or hate it.

Ford EcoBoost Mustang

In this new video by YouTuber BigKleib34, we see what might be the epitome of the manual transmission EcoBoost Mustang. From the outside, you’d be hard-pressed to find anything out of the ordinary between this modified car and any random Mustang on the road. However, under the hood, there’s quite a bit going on to give this stick-shift EcoBoost some power.

The video shows the Mustang’s performance at the Street Car Takeover in Charlotte. First up, the Mustang takes on a C7 Corvette. In a really close race, the Mustang ends up beating the Corvette by a fraction of a second. However, in the second race, you see the Ecoboost’s best performance yet. Scoring a time of 10.96 seconds, the EcoBoost breaks into the 10s, which is incredible considering this is a 4-cylinder car and not one of the bigger, powerhouse Mustangs. Unfortunately, it was in a losing effort against a BMW that put up a sub-10 second time.

So while this doesn’t put to rest the debate between pro- and anti-EcoBoost, we think all Mustang fans can admit that this car is impressive. And yes, we know your V8 could easily beat it.
