eBay Mustang Find for the Books

This rare ’67 Holman & Moody notchback has an interesting history.
There’s something really special about a classic Mustang that’s managed to retain its authentic look over the years. It’s a thing of beauty that grows more appealing the longer it sticks around.
Add to it an extremely rare model with performance enhancements, and Ford’s Pony Car takes on an entirely different kind of allure.
Take for example this Holman & Moody ’67 notchback racer we came across on Bring a Trailer. It’s only one of two built in-period by the North Carolina shop, with its sister car being a Mustang fastback. The rarity of the notchback alone is enough to leave most die-hard Mustang fans foaming at the mouth. But when you get a few details on its performance specs and history, it becomes clear that this could be one of the coolest Mustang eBay finds of the year.
The car’s roots trace back to South America. According to the eBay listing, the Mustang was owned by a man named Flores and piloted by a guy named “Batman” Christobal Galjluf, who raced the car to a number of victories in Argentina, Peru, and Mexico.
In 1971, it made its way back to HM’s North Carolina shop for an upgrade to full Trans-Am spec. Today, a dyno-tuned 302 cubic-inch V8 sits under the hood. That features a number of NASCAR parts, including a Jack Roush intake, aluminum heads and hi-comp pistons.

The car spent nearly 25 years preserved in Peru’s Nicolini Museum, a place known for its unique collection of automobiles from South America.
Of course, as you probably suspected, a ’67 Mustang with this kind of history doesn’t come cheap. But we have to admit, the car’s $100,000 listing still caught us off-guard. Then again, that’s probably only because it’s being pitched on eBay and not some well-known auction house.
