Mustang 5.0 Reunited with Family After 17 Years
After sacrificing his beloved pony to save his wife’s life, Wesley Ryan’s family returned the favor and tracked down the classic car.
It’s an old, sad story that we’ve all heard countless times. A Mustang owner, who loves their car dearly, must sell their beloved machine due to extenuating circumstances and family responsibilities. It’s always the right thing to do, but it’s sad however you look at it.
That’s just what happened to Wesley Ryan. Wesley had a 1993 Ford Mustang GT that he absolutely loved. He shared that love with his children, Jake and Jeni, and his wife, Laura.
Unfortunately, the unthinkable happened: Laura was diagnosed with ovarian cancer. Without a second thought, Wesley sold his Mustang to help cover expenses.
Seventeen years later, Laura is, thankfully, cancer-free. Wesley is still Mustang-free, too, but his kids, who are now grown up, had a plan for that.
Wesley’s son, Jake, had tried his best to keep an eye on his father’s old Mustang. A few years ago, he actually found the car on Craigslist, but wasn’t able to close a deal. Things were different the next time the car came up for sale a few years later.
When he found the car for sale again, he enlisted the help of his sister, Jeni, and Jeni’s boyfriend, to help buy the car back. This time, they were successful, and managed to keep the purchase a secret until the right moment.
The family gathered in a parking lot, blindfolded Wesley, and revealed his old white Mustang on the back of a flatbed. Wesley was completely surprised and overjoyed to be reunited with his long lost love.
More than that, though, Wesley is thankful for his family. “My wife and I have succeeded, we’ve raised productive adults, it’s the strongest, most powerful feeling that a parent can have.”
As for Jake, he’s happy to help his dad work on fixing up the Mustang, and is excited to ride in it with him, this time in the front seat.
