If the Focus RS Has “Drift Mode,” Is the Mustang Next?

Before there’s a bunch of ballyhoo about the title of this article, please allow me to explain: putting a drift button in the Mustang may seem redundant, as it is already rear-wheel-drive, but the drift mode in the Focus RS changes more than just the power split between the front axle and the happy axle. It also adjusts steering sensitivity and softens up the suspension for easier car control. The Mustang already has different modes for steering weight, so perhaps this goal might be as easy as installing specialized dampers that would come as part of a “drift mode” option.
We already know that skilled drivers will be able to make a Mustang slide around like a dog on kitchen tile. We also know the Mustang can be fitted with other sorts of goodies that wont make the EPA pleased, such as a line-lock for the impromptu burn out. Maybe, just maybe it wouldn’t be a far stretch to imagine that upper management would approve a drift mode for the GT that would make life mid-corner a little more fun.
