If you’ve been on the fence between opting for the Shelby GT350 or the more stripped-down GT350R as a straight-out-the-box track car, maybe this bit of news will help you narrow down your choice.

Pushing to draw even more people to the higher performance Mustang, it appears that Ford might offer the $6,500 optional track package now available for the GT350 as standard equipment for the 2017 model year, according to a Road & Track report. The Shelby track pack — which includes the MagneRide suspension, the aluminum tower brace, and upgraded transmission and differential cooling — is already standard on the GT350R model.

If that wasn’t enough, it’s also been rumored that the larger trunk-lid spoiler equipped on the GT350R might also come standard on the GT350.

The changes would likely increase the price of the GT350 slightly. But it still should prove to be a much better overall deal for new Shelby buyers wanting more features for their new track toy.
