With a twin-turbocharged, 6.7-liter, methanol-injected Roush Yates V8, anyone would be afraid of this drift car’s performance.

Ken Block’s Hoonicorn is one of the most insane vehicles ever made. Everyone’s heard about this radical car — the machine based on a 1965 Ford Mustang that Block used in Gymkhana Seven. The already potent machine got some large upgrades last year. The 6.7-liter V8 received a custom twin-turbocharged setup that increased output to 1,400 horsepower.

We’ve seen the Hoonicorn V2 in action since the vehicle received its updates. But now, thanks to Block’s Facebook page, we get to see his initial reactions to driving it. While the Hoonicorn V2 has an all-wheel-drive system, putting 1,400 horses down to the ground, as Block puts it, is a terrifying experience.

“This car, the Hoonicorn, was already quite insane as it was,” says Block. “And now we’ve added two turbos to it. It went from around 850 horsepower to now 1,400 horsepower and I have to say that it’s a bit frightening.”

The power, according to Block, is bizarre. The engine hits redline so quickly that the driver finds himself banging through the gears at an insane pace. And the four-wheel-drive system ensures that all of the wheels chew through the tires in a matter of minutes. There’s so much power that Block has to change the way he drives.

“I tell you something that’s really weird, it spins the tires so fast, that things that I’m used to doing with all-wheel drive cars – how I point the wheels, how much gas I give to tighten up or change a line – it actually doesn’t work with this car,” says Block.

Understandably, this can be a scary situation, as Block puts his skills to the test in some pretty dicey locations. Watching him talk about the car and put it through its paces is an entertaining watch, which you can enjoy above. It’s a good thing Block took the time to get used to the Hoonicorn V2. He’s expected to release a new Climbkhana video at Colorado’s Pikes Peak on September 25 that should result in some nail-biting action.
