Ken Block’s New ‘Climbkhana’: Greatest Mustang Video of All Time?
14,115 feet: That’s the height at which Ken Block reaffirmed his status as Mustang-driving icon.
Ken Block is back at it again, setting the new standard for hooning videos with “Climbkhana”. This video has everything you could ever hope for from one of the greatest media machines of our generation. There’s action and intrigue, and the video even has a love interest: that glorious Hoonicorn, Ken’s 1965 Ford Mustang RTR with a 1,400-horsepower, twin-turbocharged, 6.7-liter Roush-Yates-built, meth-injected V8 powering all four wheels.

By adding the turbos, the Hoonigan crew amped the Mustang up to 11. The car was built for Ken’s Gymkhana 7 video, and at that point was naturally aspirated, making “just” 845 horses. Why the need for an extra 555 ponies? Because Pikes Peak is a low-oxygen environment, and Ken needed more power to make these stunts happen.
When you watch this video, be sure to crank up the volume, because there’s nothing better sounding than this double-mega-turbocharged NASCAR engine ripping up the hill. While Ken isn’t going for an all-out record-setting time up Pikes Peak, we’re pretty sure he could set a pretty damn good time if he gave it a shot. Instead, he set his sights on tearing apart a few sets of Toyo tires on his way up the hill, with donuts, drifts, skids, slides, and stunts.

We’ve heard a lot of people being downers on Mr. Block’s talents over the years, but this video should “shut down the haters,” as they say. He’s able to hold a drift on the edge of a cliff that could have ended in disaster if he’d done it wrong. He’s more than earned our respect, and it doesn’t hurt that he used the world’s most badass Mustang to make it happen. But what’s your take on Climbkhana? Chime in on the forums to let us know.
