Muffler-Deleted 2018 Mustang GT Sounds Wicked
Most cars respond well to exhaust upgrades, but this 2018 Mustang GT is on another (sound) level!
By all accounts, the 2018 Mustang GT sounds pretty awesome as is. And with selectable exhaust modes, you can even tone things down for the neighbors, which is nice and considerate. But if you’re like us (and we know you are!) you like your muscle cars to be loud. Like really loud. The problem is, some cars just don’t sound right with a muffler delete. The 2018 Mustang GT, however, is not one of those cars.
In this video from NEO auto, our ears revel in the audible delight that is a muffler-deleted 2018 Mustang GT. And boy, is it glorious. In this case, a local muffler shop began the conversion by installing a resonator, x-pipe, and muffler delete axle-back system. The quick and easy install sounded amazing from the second the car was started up, but is it too loud for everyday use?
Thankfully, the point of this latest video is to answer a number of viewer-imposed questions. The first relates to drone, which can be annoying in many cases. But according to our Mustang owner, the noise is mostly contained to the outside of the car. It’s perfectly reasonable at cruising speeds, yet it “comes to life” when you punch the gas. Which is exactly what you want.
And what about those selectable exhaust modes? Well, according to NEO auto, they still work with the new setup. But this car doesn’t have the active exhaust, so that’s a non-concern to begin with. The whole setup was rather cheap, too—even though he had it professionally installed. He opted not to cut into the headers to eliminate the cats, so the warranty shouldn’t be an issue, either. Given those factors and the amazing sound coming from this 2018 Mustang GT, we can’t see a reason not to delete the factory setup!
