Ford Mustang-Fairmont Mashup is One Wild Ride

How much would you pay for this sleeper wagon with a Fox facelift?

Here’s proof that beauty is truly in the eye of the beholder, even when it comes to Mustangs. Though you could argue that this one-of-a-kind creation, featured in a Ford Muscle report, really isn’t a Mustang at all.

Sure, its face is every bit of a ‘Stang, specifically a Fox Body. And under the hood is a 514 cubic inch Super Cobra Jet engine with aluminum heads. Again, that’s pure Mustang. But the rest of the car was formerly a ho-hum 1981 Fairmont wagon, a near-forgotten platform-mate of the versatile Fox.

Backing up that power is a C6 automatic transmission. The rest of the build is pretty much what you’d expect from an old-school Pro Style street car.

Some fans of the Ford’s Pony Car might find the wagon appealing as a unique take on the Mustang. Others will likely see it as a little too offbeat; something that really isn’t representative of the nameplate anymore.

According to Ford Muscle, the wagon was listed for sale on eBay. We couldn’t find the selling price, but the seller certainly seems to think it’s well worth the money.

“This car is a true head-turner,” the owner tells Ford Muscle. “Be prepared to talk about it because it does draw a crowd. This is one of a kind. If Ford ever built a Mustang wagon, this should have been it.”
