Who says classic Mustangs can’t have fun in the snow?

For people who have to deal with harsh winter weather, snow means that it’s time to put your beloved in the garage and wait until springtime comes. But after a recent snowstorm, this Nebraska family decided to let their beloved ’67 Mustang GTA come out and play. Well, in spirit, that is.

According to the Detroit Free Press, after a particularly heavy coating earlier this month, Jason Blundell of Chadron, Nebraska and his family took a giant, unsightly mound of snow and turned it into a pretty convincing 1:1 replica of their Mustang. After posting their handiwork on Twitter, “#SnowPony” quickly went viral.

From Nebraska to the world, thanks to Twitter.

Snow artwork is nothing new to the family. “Whenever we get a big snow and a nice enough day come together,” Blundell says, the family does snow sculptures, including a giant Easter bunny and a six-foot tall jack-o-lantern, complete with a light inside.

But for Blundell, the SnowPony was new territory. A decades-long Ford fan, his stable also includes a ’55 Customline and a ’69 Mustang. But the ’67 GTA seemed ready for star treatment. Sure, the SnowPony’s lines aren’t exactly as crisp as anything to come out of Dearborn. We wouldn’t want tires that looked like that on our car either. But in all, it does look pretty convincing.

In fact, it looked so convincing that a passerby even stopped mid-sculpture and asked if they were burying an actual car. The Nebraska State Police even got in on the fun, releasing a video showing a patrolman (and longtime family friend) issuing a ticket to the SnowPony.

After a huge blizzard, it’s not uncommon for families and communities to come together and have a little fun digging out. Not only does the SnowPony look like a blast to build, but it also brought a community together, and went viral in the process. If that isn’t a feel-good story, we don’t know what is.
