Mustang Tops Sports Car Sales in Australia

The idea of mentioning Mustang in the same breath as Lamborghini seems kind of odd. But apparently it’s not when it comes to recent car sales in Australia.

Well, sort of.

Both cars posted impressive January sales in the Land Down Under, with the Mustang ranking as the highest selling car under $80K and Lamborghini taking over the number two spot for sports cars more than $200K, according to a Business Insider report.

Total Mustang sales for January were 389 units compared to the 22 Lamborghinis sold during the month.

Overall, Ford ranked sixth among the top 10 car manufacturers in Australia, which we suspect could change some when Mustang sales really rev up there. Although, it appears that the buying trend among Australians leans heavily to compacts and pickups, based on those January sales results.

That said, the Ford pony car is still off to very impressive start in Australia, which honestly comes as no surprise, given how well the new model has been selling in the States.
