Calling All Foxes: Radwood 2 Is Coming to SoCal, Dec. 2

Celebrate modern classic Mustangs and more from the ’80s & ’90s.

Radwood is a car show (and so much more) that celebrates the rides of the ’80s and ’90s. In other words, it celebrates the classics that aren’t quite considered classics yet. The Fox Mustang has been popular since 1979 and was one of the few bright spots of performance in the early smog days. Still, it still doesn’t get the respect of its 1960s predecessors.

Well, if you’re in the Los Angeles area, it’s time to slip on your checkered Vans and pull your best hair-metal mixtape out of storage. Because Radwood is back.

That’s right, Radwood 2 is coming to Anaheim on December 2. The show welcomes all cars up to 1999, so SN-95 and New Edge cars are welcome, too. Rumor has it Matt Farah’s Fox Body project may be there as well.

Of course, everyone who owns and loves Fox Body Mustangs already knows the type of reception cars under 40 get at classic car shows and cruise nights. Many of these shows are stuck in the past with a “1975 or earlier” rule. Well, now you can get together with Toyota Supras, Nissan 300ZXs, E30/E36 BMWs, 3rd-generation Camaro/Firebirds, and turbocharged 2.2-liter Mopars to relive the glory days of the 1980s and ’90s. Just like at your local ’50s cruise night, there will be era-appropriate entertainment and food, and you’re encouraged to wear your period-correct clothing.

RadWood is the brainchild of a young bunch of car-guy journalists, including Bradley Brownell, Rick Deacon, and the folks from Driving While Awesome!, the Cammed & Tubbed Podcast, and the Clutchkick Podcast.

Radwood 2 takes place in Anaheim, California, during the opening weekend of the L.A. Auto Show. If you’re in Southern California or the surrounding area and miss the big hair era, get yourself and/or your car to the Phoenix Club sometime between 11 a.m. and 5 p.m. on Saturday, December 2.

Of course, we all love pony cars. But RadWood 2 also welcomes era-correct mini-trucks, lowriders, European tuner cars, sport compacts, JDM imports, race cars, motorcycles, and scooters. To quote Deacon, “I am so psyched for Radwood 2, homey. It’s going to be a hella rad event, and you can bring your friends with. This show is going to be all that and a bag of chips, so come say, Wazzup?!? Don’t trip, be there or be square.” This second event should be even bigger than the original last spring.
