’69 Cobra Jet Barn Find: 8,500 Original Miles!

A mint condition, 1969, Shelby Mustang GT500 Cobra Jet discovered in the garage of a recently deceased man will soon be going to auction. Though it was covered in dust, the mustang clocked only 8,500 miles on the odometer. Due to the the car’s rareness–there were only about 1,000 ever made–people are expecting it to do quite well on the auction block.

Here’s a rare find – a 1968 Mustang with 800k-plus miles.
Yup, that’s roughly 200,000 short of one million folks for the Ford pony car­ — and still running.

The Californian is the proud owner of a highly coveted Caspian blue Mustang stamped “5F07U100002,” the first pre-production hardtop Mustang assigned a vehicle number, according to recent UT-San Diego report.

Sure, we know – they’re all special in their unique way. But with every great automotive nameplate there’s always a few that stick out. Is it the 1964 ½ Mustang, which is credited with starting it all? How about the first Shelby GT Mustang?
