I love turbo cars. They make great wooshy noises and generally have enough horsepower and torque to restart a small planet’s gravitational field. Unfortunately, the turbo Mustang you see here hasn’t really been tuned properly and, well, things go wrong quickly.
Little is know about this nitrous-huffing small-block Ford (SBF) powered Fox-body other than it’s here to roll heads. Seriously, in a day and age of Coyote and even GM LS swaps it’s nice to see some good ol’ SBF power getting it done at the track.
It just doesn’t get any better than this: A street driven, pump gas badass that’s unassuming and brings new meaning to the adage, walks softly but carries a big stick! This Fox-body coupe has the heart of a Coyote and tows a trailer to the track, snaps off a best pass of 10.75 @ 127 mph on 1.41 60-foot and then hooks up his trailer and drives home. How’s that for cool?
The second annual NMRA Cobra Jet Showdown presented by Jackie Jones Ford was once again held at Bradenton Motorsports Park in sunny Bradenton, Florida. The 2013 season-opening Cobra Jet showdown is always a good race as many Cobra Jet owners use it as a shakedown event for the NHRA Gatornationals in Gainesville, Florida. Twenty two Cobra Jets were on the property running in seven different index classes.
