Top 5 Collectible Fourth-Gen Mustangs

Desirable Mustangs Hagerty

Hagerty lists the most desirable Ford pony cars from the model years spanning 1994 to 2004.

A new list from famed classic car insurer Hagerty could very well be the list of all lists when it comes to coveted Mustangs. Okay, so maybe that’s a bit extreme, but you get the point.

Of course, a list like this will probably spark a few debates, too. That’s usually the case with anything claiming to tout the “best of the best.” And it’s playing with fire for something that evokes the kind of emotion that Mustangs have throughout the years.

That said, Hagerty takes a shot at naming the five most collectible fourth-generation Ford Mustangs ever made, as highlighted in a FOX News report.

What makes this list even more interesting is that we can’t recall ever coming across one that zeroes in so specifically on Mustangs from the model years 1994 to 2004. Clearly, we were interested in seeing the results. After all, the fourth-gen Mustang is still considered “the” favorite among many fans. That seems to be why the team at Haggerty decided to focus on the most coveted collectibles from the era.

The verdict? Well, at the top of the list is the 2000 Cobra R, a limited-production Mustang that cranks out 385 horsepower and 385 lb-ft of torque. Second on the list is the 2003 to 2004 Cobra SVT, the 390-hp supercharged Mustang also known as “The Terminator” in the world of muscle cars.

Third and fourth place honors on Hagerty’s list go to the 2001 Bullitt and 1995 SVT Cobra R, respectively. The trusted car source’s fifth and final pick among all fourth-generation Mustangs is none other than the 1994–2004 GT, which Hagerty appraises at anywhere from $4,200 to $21,600.

Like we said previously, we’re pretty certain that some of you will have a few counterpoints to make. Maybe there are a few things that Hagerty forgot to consider when compiling its list.
