Watch This Mustang Monster Truck Maul a Mud Pit

“Beyond the Law” digs and soars with the best of them.

The Ford Mustang has mastered many motorsport domains in its day from the drag strip to the dirt oval and road courses. However, this homebrewed contraption takes the Mustang to new heights. Perched atop what looks like a custom monster-truck chassis with muddin’ wheels, “Beyond the Law” bathes in mud and launches over big jumps. This Busted Knuckle Video production catches Beyond the Law doing its thing in New England.

The Mountain Mud Run Terrain Park in Warren, New Hampshire, attracts mud-traversing vehicles of many shapes and capabilities. While we see a couple of mud-runnin’ customs like this first-generation Mustang, most look like fairly tame builds. A few Jeeps and pickups resemble purposeful daily drivers, even.

However, Jim Doak’s Mustang-bodied monster truck scarcely slows for the mud bog. Beyond the Law then takes on a few huge jumps for good measure. We’re not sure we could ever quite get used to seeing a Mustang perched so high above the chassis. Nevertheless, the Mustang body rides on an absurdly high lift that makes the Pony car look like it’s on stilts. Even the open headers hang out a solid four feet from the ground. That feature probably makes this one righteous-sounding Mustang monster truck.

Beyond the Law has run around the Northeastern United States for at least a couple years. You can find a few videos of it running that go as far back as 2015. We’re not sure what engine sits under that classic Mustang hood, but we do know neither Mustang nor driver flinch at any obstacle. That’s prompted at least one “incident,” but this recent Mountain Mud Run visit suggests this pony runs as strongly in its element as any Mustang drag car does in the quarter-mile.
