Best advice! I saw asimilar thread and did just that.

I took a dremel with a cut-off wheel...sliced off the ball at the top. Took the dremel, sliced the antenna at about 14". Took some epoxy and glued the ball to the new tip. Let dry for about 2-3 hours. Took some flat black testors model paint and cleaned up the work.

Reception is great, probably 95% of the original, no different from any other shorty. Cost me absolutely nothing, 15 mins of time, and looks like it came on the car.

I just installed the 8" and I think my reception is better... might just be in my head. It looks better anyway. $18.00 from mustang tuners

I knocked the tip off the factory antenna, cut down to 14", super glued tip back on, no touchup reguired.

Yup, Did the same thing to mine. cheap & easy, like they did it in the old days.
