Default Painted Louvers

Finally warmed up enough to paint those louvers. Not bad for 3 rattle cans.

Good job! Louver looks a tiny bit darker than the car's paint but it still gives anexcellent contrast.
Where did you purchase those louvers? How much did they run you? $$

Hi, How were the louvers before painting? Need much prep sanding? I'm interested in the brand too.

Thanks, they are Vtech louvers. I got them from autoaccessory4u.com for $64.95. JC Whitney also has them I think for $69.95. They're ABS plastic and were a glossy black. I dry sanded with very fine wet/dry paper, primed with rustoleum plastic primer, wet sanded, painted with Ford satin silver from Auto Touchup and clear coated with Duplicolor clearcoat.

Quality seems good for plastic louvers. I don't think they'll crack or anything like that.

are they true slotted louvers? can you see through them, even if slightly? or are they similar to the 3dcarbon louvers (i.e. no openings in the slots)?

They are true slotted louvers and you can see out of them. Although I put black foam board on the inside of the glass. They secure with double sided tape, but I alsoused GE black silicone II caulk all along the entire outside seem of the louver. GE silicone II is excellent for glass and plastic.
