Default hood scoop

just got the new stang in my sig, the dealer wants like 400-500 to add a hood scoop to it, is there a cheaper way, maybe like a pre-painted scoop that doesnt require drilling that i could do myself?

Yes, a couple different places sell different models but it is all what you like.

LM performance has a few that are even pre-painted if you like them: http://www.lmperformance.com/c/8/73.html

I personally like the factory one the best but you usually can't get that pre-painted unless someone is doing it on ebay or something. But the factory one requires drilling.

I never liked the xenon hood scoops. IMO, I just think they are way too wide on the hood. Go Shaker hoodscoop FTW! (then again, that's prob more than 400-500, and requires a bit more than drilling).

I would watch on ebay for a painted scoop that has been removed. I have seen quite a few of them on there lately. If you keep checking I am sure one will eventually come up in your color. This would probley be the cheapest option in order to get a OEM scoop for your car. Otherwise, for as much as the dealer wants to charge you, you could almost buy an entire hood. There are some pretty neat looking aftermarket hoods but then again you would have to have it painted too.

ok well i can get the roush scoop for about 150 unpainted, then my cousin who owns a body shop said he will paint it for free, however, whats the exact color for a 08 black clear coat mustang? is there a code? Also is installing the roush scoop, with the drilling template easy? Dad over the phone told me its very simple, i just dont want the drill to crack the hood or chip paint in surrounding areas

Yes, there is a code for your paint color. Look on the inside of the driver's door jam. It will be listed there. You shouldn't have any problems drilling the hood to fit the scoop as long as you line up the holes in the right places. Make sure you double check before you start to drill.
