Paint it black

I thought about trading it in, I know its weird but I kind of like my exact car. Plus I figured a full paint job would be about $5,000. I'm already going to eat ~$700 in a tradein for my driveshaft, plus the labor of putting the new one on (took me forever to get right, without whine) And by the time I paint it I'll already have gears, TC, and LCAs (going to be installing these over the next 3 months). Realistically it'll be two years until I can do the conversion and paint it, which kind of negates some of the cost of paint, since the hood / bumper have to be painted regardless.
I really like the idea of black with redfire on the top, but I saw a coupe driving around my dads neighborhood where I frequent, with the same paint theme.
I think if I wound up going some combination involving redfire, the engine bay wouldn't need to be painted. Maybe I'll keep it redfire and just go with black side stripes and black racing stripes.
Does anyone know if my estimate of $5,000 for paint is realistic? Less / more? $5,000 is about the most I'll be willing to pay for all the paint.

A complete, CORRECT, color change on a car, any car, any color, is very time consuming and expensive.. They have to pull off every panel, paint over ALL the old color (strut towers, etc etc).. Otherwise, you have a black car, then you open the door or the hood or the trunk and see redfire... *bluh*
Your call, but if you want a black car, I'd just trade that one in and get a black car.. It's not like you're TOO heavily modded, you could easily put it back to stock and drop it at a stealership or put it in the paper..

Flat black racing stripes (all the way - ground in the front to ground in the back)
Repaint chin spoiler (rock chips)
Paint/install side exhaust
Paint/install side scoops
Shave washer nozzles from factory hood
Repair rock damage to factory hood and repaint
Shave antenna, repaint entire fender
Wetsand/buff quarter panel
Paint/stripe/install 'vert bar
Paint/stripe/install speedster covers
Custom stereo enclosure ($500)
Install hood pins
Install windshield-mount stealth antenna
I'm sure there's other stuff I'm forgetting, the list was a whole sheet of paper, one side...
They aren't touching the doors, one of the fenders, and they aren't painting either of the quarters.. AND, keep in mind that they aren't repainting the trunk, spoiler, or the bumpers, since you don't clear over flat black.
I can honestly say that if I took my car to this same awesome body shop and wanted a complete, correct, showroom-quality color change, it'd be $10k. At least. Your car? Depends on how much it costs to get the body back to all straight again. My only damage was the hood ding.

I think the "two tone" is a great option for your car.

man i love this "two tone" look so much. i think it just adds that whole custom car look to it. i think shaved dorr handles and antenna would be quite nice on it too.

Yeh I'm def going to get an antenna delete when I get the car painted, since I'll be doing bodywork anyway. I doubt I'll have the shop do the relocation, though. Just filling the hole and painting it. I'm actually really seriously leaning toward the two-tone now. I keep looking at that GT500 and I love it. I also think it would look awesome with the black convertible top. I am 99% sure I'm going to do a spoiler delete, as well.

I think in a few years I may just have to buy a black coupe for the track.
