Painted mirrors...
i will be getting some recent damage on my hood fixed very soon, and while my body guy has the car i figured i'd go ahead and have him do the mirrors also.
how much prep is involved with getting the mirrors ready to paint?
and secondly, should i have the entire mirror painted, or just the mirror and leave the section where its attached to the car black?
post some pics guys!
thanks,

Hi *****, I just had mine painted last month, I removed them from the car in about 5 minutes, my friend at the body shop said that he had to give them a light sanding to remove some of the texture and than apply a heavy primer to fill in the rest of the texture, then he sanded them again and painted them. They came out great. I had the whole mirror painted, I didn't want any black at all. Also, he taped an only painted 1/8" inside of the mirror side, so you see a clean even line all the way around the perimeter of the mirror. So the lip is redfire and in 1/8" is black. They really came out great.

If you're doing the prep work yourself: http://www.cherod.com/mustang/HowTo/PaintedMirrors.htm
If you mean just taking them off, then it takes 5 minutes and is also in the above link. I suggest painting the entire mirror but it's personal taste. I have mine painted and love it.
