kinda off topic but do you happen to know if they sell the airbag/steering wheel emblem by itself?

The emblem thing was discussed a while ago when the 2010 was first released. There was also a discussion of what 2010 parts can fit on an 05-09 both in suspension and interior components. It's not on this forum but there's a very indepth one at one of the other less active mustang sites (themustangsource.com) The OP was Kevin Casey I believe.

He works for a dealership in Porterville, CA and has all of the down lo on what parts are interchangeable or can be made to fit. the pony was one of them that cannot, will not fit.

Correct, Ford changed the design for the new 2010 mustang.

Doesn't quite fit. But with a little work and some careful positioning I think you can probably make it look okay. This guys is a little more off than I'd like, but i think if you move it down a shade more you can probably fake it pretty good.

Hell, for someone with patience, you could always make a sheet metal plate slightly bigger all the way around the emblem, that would serve as a bracket and 3M tape the horsey on that.

Where there's a will, there's a way.

Has anyone just tried nightshade on the stock chrome, the paint used for tinting taillights.

I did, didn't look quite right... Tried different types of paint too, I just couldn't get it to look the way I wanted it to.

Every generation pony is a different size or has a slightly different gallop so they wont fit from gen to gen without some fabrication.
