Hood shipping damage, how common?
#31
UPS is being a bowel fluid drenched weasel. They have initially denied the claim. I will ask AM to try harder. This is obviously a structural integrity issue on the skeleton and I don't know who can do a nose job on an acute angle, and have the bond be as good as the original.
They will not be responsible for their fukk ups, they won't even try.
If AM isn't willing to fight this battle for you, then call your CC company a deny the charges.
Sent them the pictures of the damage as well.

Now I just need to check-in with the body shop to see why it's not done yet.

I ordered a Cervini 1176 Concept Hood from AM a couple weeks ago. Got a call from UPS freight that they wanted to schedule a drop off. I pass the freight location everyday heading home from work, so I decided to just stop and pick it up there.
When I got there. The guy came out and said... "you should come look at the box, because its pretty tore up"
Went inside to take a look and holy ****! The box was broken open on both ends and the hood was free floating inside what was left of the box. We pulled the hood out and luckily there was only a small chip at the back drives side corner. Called my body shop guy and then texted him a photo. Again luckily, he said that that was an easy fix and not to worry about it.
Called AM and had a long conversation about how they need to work with the supplier to do a better job of packaging or get somebody other than UPS to handle the shipping.

Sorry to hear about the (1st)hood OP. Cervini's should have filed the claim, and kept you out of it. Really, its between them, as long as you either refused it or signed it off as damaged.
UPS handles a lot of aftermarket companies because they're cheap. There are carriers out there that specifically handle fragile things, but of course, it'll cost ya.
So, in the end, its a balancing act...chance of damage, or higher cost?
Just inspect the package and contents carefully before you sign for it. Once you sign for it, you own it and UPS or any carrier will fight tooth-and-nail to prove it so.
I'm glad it worked out for you in the end!

My bad...
Maybe the shop is real busy, in that case, don't rush them too much.
They'll mess up the job, trying to get it done faster.

And... it's back. Looking pretty good if you ask me. I've got a big smile.
I'll have to get some shots with a polarized lens to reduce some of the glare.
