ok so I want to change out or paint the Automatic shift handle on my car...the handle part looks like this one (silver, no chrome on the side though...)

Anyone know where to buy a black one or if I can safely take it out and paint it??

There is a write up on installing the TCI shifter that shows removing the stock shifter. It sure looked to me that it comes apart and could easily be painted.

I can take it off no prob theres only one screw, its just that the O/D button wiring is there too and I'm not sure if I want to go messing around with that...lol

Also, if you do a search for "imitator shifter" you should be able to find pics of the removal of the stock shifter and a dis- assembly of it as well.

P.S. The OD wire will just pull out, but you will have to remove the console to re-attach it.
