Front 18x10 Wheels
Hi Everyone,
I'm looking to install 18x10 wheels all the way around to give my car a more muscle car look.
I read on American Muscle that 18x10 do not fit on the front of the S197 mustang, but I noticed that several members here run with them anyway.
My question is, what do I need to do to install 18x10 wheels on front?

I think that 10's upfront, although doable, are cumbersome and you'll be stuck putting a wider tire than you may desire up front. Depending on the tire and that manufacturer's specs, you may need to run a 275 up front (although I think some 255/45's might just fit a 10" wide wheel). I have 275's up front and will go 255's next time. Too much tramlining.
The width of the 10" wide wheel up front won't add "muscle" any more than the same wheel in a smaller width with a more appropriate series tire.

"Tramlining" is when a tire tends to follow the wheel track depressions in a road caused by thousands of cars driving the same line. It is MUCH more pronounced with wide, low-profile tires and even more so when they are up front. It is most noticeable when trying to change lanes and it feels like the car is fighting you to remain straight. It is also very pronounced when steering into a lane with a different height in the pavement (This happens a lot in cities that are doing constant road construction and the lane levels aren't always the same)
It's not a deal breaker by any means... but it IS something that can be avoided by running reasonable widths on the fronts. IMO fronts should be 255s and never anything greater than 275s at the absolute most. Do what you want in the back.
This ends this public service announcement.
