I did this to my 08 gt. I got the 2010 mirrors with no blind spot mirror. not by choice but it is the score I landed on ebay, already painted UA Black.

Took about 45 minutes start to finish.

best advice I can give is since you are elongating holes to take you time and make sure the mirrors stay level and put a dab of blue lactate on the threads to make sure they do not vibrate loose

Also, as mentioned before. Use the Foam water sealant thing that comes on the new mirrors as a template to mark and drill your holes.

Also if you are worried about rust, use some touchup paint on the bare metal on the holes you just drilled
