Paint Paint Paint, help?
I'm looking to get my Mustang painted, I'd love a custom paint job, although the cost will kill me.
Start saving up!
The color I have in mind is called Ruby Black, and from what I've seen it's only available custom ordered for BMW's, and ONLY in Europe.
I've searched all over the net, and can't seem to find a color that is similar. Or where I could purchase that exact or near exact color.

It's hard to tell, but it's got the red undertones to go along with the black.
So any help would be greatly appreciated.
Similar colors,
where I could get the paint,
best places to go,
costs, etc.
Thanks a lot,

your auto painter would really be able to help you find a close substitute and the amount of "customization" you want would be a deciding factor in the shop you choose to go to. If its a simple repaint in that color then any reputable body shop should be able to hook you up but if you have some crazy stuff in mind you may need to do some solid research.
Omg thanks,
now I found the actual color to buy.
Now more questions,
I'd need about what, 2 gallons?
What type of paint should I use? I'm seeing all different types, base coats, urethane, etc etc etc.
And how much of what and where and yeaaah.

This color covers pretty good...
I'd do this in base/clear coat because of matching reasons if you need to spot a panel later on, plus it's user friendly.
One gallon of base is plenty enough to do the whole car with door jambs etc...
Two to three quarts of clear will suffice to do the car as well, with 3 good coats for durability.
Get a good brand that has a 2 to 1, or 3 to 1 mixing ratio (not that 4 to 1 crap).
Some good brands are Dupont, PPG, Diamont etc...
Use Limco base coat to save a little money as far as brand but use the above mentioned brands for the clear.
I just bought a Quart of Dupont Chromabase in Vista Blue yesterday. Paid $98 for it, Ouch!
Expect to pay close to $800 for the materials by the time you buy reducers, catalysts and everything else.
Good luck.
