side window louvers and side scoops
hello everyone. I have been wanting the Cervini's c-500 body kit for a long time now. While online i have seen a few people say that the window louvers and side scoops come off easily and that one person had one fly off one time on the highway. They said the 3m tape just wasnt enough to hold. Has anyone else had this problem? Anyone that has side window louvers or scoops can answer this question really. I just want your personal experience with them. Thanks guys
I wouldnt trust window scoops to 3m I work with that **** in bulk. See if you can find some that bolt on. If I put them on I would drill holes in the glass and bolt them on with a couple washers. But that's what I would do and probably isn't recommended
I had stick on louvers for over a year and had no problems with the 3m tape, with the right prep (clean and warm glass, don't drive for 8 hours) they should stay put. I ended up switching to the SHR window replacement louvers because they're the best and I don't have to worry about if something is going to fly off anymore.
I think the main trick to getting these to stay on is being lucky enough to have a set that fits the contour of the car or window. I bought a set of window louvers that attached to the windows from the classifieds here and they were a little warped. If you would push one side flush, the opposite side would pop off the glass. Could never get them to stay on and they ended up broken and in the trash. Wondering if you could manipulate them with a heat gun without melting them or ruining the finish so they would fit the car better?!?
I bought my louvers from American Muscle. Pre-painted stick on kind. I read a couple threads on here about installing them. All of them said proper prep was very important. Clean, adhesion promoter, press on. I was skeptical at first, but every once and awhile I give them a good pull, and trust me they are not going anywhere.

I did the ROUSH side louvers...
I used the 3M tape as supplied and the recommended 3M 4298 Adhesion Promoter.
I waited the 48 hours for the acrylic adhesive on the 3M tape to properly cure
before even trying to put the louvers on. Thats the trick. Patience.
The louvers were flat and needed to be slightly curved to fit flush.
So they are constantly pulling at the 3M tape holding the brackets on...
They have been holding tight for some 4 years now. No evidence of the 3M
tape coming loose when inspected during the yearly 1/4 window glass cleaning.
The brackets are on there permanently until I remove them with some 3M
Emblem Tape Remover...

But I can still unbolt the Louvers for cleaning...

BTW, there are about 15 different varieties of 3M tape available.
And a multitude of thicknesses available as well...
Its best to use the 3M tape supplied by the OEM manufacturer
as the 3M stuff thats available at AutoZoner is just not the same...
