Louvers Help
Im getting the ABS quarter window louvers and the ABS rear window louver. Both come in a matte black finish that is not very presentable on my black car. Im not gonna pay AM $100 to paint the quarter ones thats where i need the help. Im wondering what type of paint i would need to use to paint both to match my black stang. Also what procedures do i need to follow and what tools do i need.
Thanks

I woulda just had them paint um. Find out your color code, buy that color and clearcoat, (I don't think you'll need a primer because they are already a shade of black but that wouldn't hurt.) Then wet sand and buff it. Wax it if that's to your liking.
If you don't have the tools then it'll cost you way more to get them than it would to buy them prepainted or done professionally or you'll end up with a poor job.
Shaker cans never look as good as professional powdercoating, end of story

I highly recommend having them professionally painted or purchase the pre-painted ones from AM. I bought the pre-painted quarter panel louvers from AM. Only recommendation is to follow the installation prep to a "T" and add better 3M super duty double sided sticky tape.

Hi, just want to jump in here. Regarding the rear window louvers..I just bought the same ones & I had them professionally painted. Now if you want nice a smooth finish your going to need to sand the hell out of them because they have a textured finish. I didn't & I wish I had now because all my black accents are a smooth finish except the rear louvers...live & learn I guess.

If you have to ask the process...pay someone else to do it. You have to sand, use adhesion promoter, primer, color, then clear. There are mistakes you can make in every step that will ruin the finish.

Yeah if you screw it up, then it ends up costing more than if you would have just bought them prepainted. Or you can try and find a used set already painted. eBay, Craigslist, or one of these forums.that stuff is always for sale
