Default Satisfied!?!? Tune or not to tune.

I am going to order a CIA fairly soon (Airaid=17hp) and I need to know if you think I'll be happy with the power gain or if I need to bit the bullit, spend the money, and get a CIA w/tuner programmed for me car. I love the power it has now, but after reading all your posts, I definetly have the need for more power.

All you guys that did the combo, power difference?? Mild, medium or huge. I NEED TO KNOW!!

I thought you had to get a tune with CAI to get the max performance out of them. I know most companies say that tunes are required. Seem like everyone gets a tune so A/F ratio doesn't get messed up

you are right spike....the air/fuel ratio will get screwed up if you are running a CAI without a tune. the computer is very sensitive, and needs to be adjusted to account for the extra air. I have a C&L with a SCT2 tuner and i'm very happy with it. I have also heard that a CAI alone, will only give you so much extra hp, but the tune is what really boosts that number. i have also heard of people just getting a tune alone, and that helps increase hp. if you're concerned about cost, maybe you just want to get a tuner with a couple of custom tunes from Brenspeed or Evolution. personally i got mine from Evolution, and i think i got a pretty damn good deal. the difference is amazing....almost like a different car...and sounds way more agressive. i can't wait to throw some exhaust on there....gonna sound like a BEAST! good luck!

Airaid, T/B, Diablo dyno tune, full exhaust. The numbers speak for themselves.
