Spare Tire useless???
Or get those fancy schmancy run flats! LOL.
My boyfriend has an 05 Saleen and that's the first thing he did was take out the spare. It does make the car lighter.
I myself would keep the spare, even if I had 20" rims.

Something you may want to think about before you put on the spare is that if you have a large enough change in the height vs the the new wheel your running you could blow out your limited slip and it will happen in a matter of miles. I believe Ford covered this at one time due to warrenty claims. They suggested that if you must drive the car take off a front tire first and place the spare on the front so that the limited slip woud not be affected. Just my 2 cents worth.
Actaully, if they are about the same size you should get another 20" mounted rim and put THAT in the trunk!
Otherwise just get rid of it, get that stuff you can shoot into a flat tire and install the kick a&& amp and woofer in the back!

I have a caddy CTS-V with no spare tire, but runflats. Butm the car has a spare tire well. In removing the spare for the CTS-V, the insterted a heavy steel ytub inside the spare tire well. Why, you ask? Crash protection, apparently. The spare tire is part of the "crash" structure of that car.
Even with the runflats I wish I had a spare. I ride with little kids and sitting on the side of the road for hours waiting for a tow truck (if I grenade a rim or something) to tow me to a service station or a hotel (who's gonna replace a tire at midnight?) is a lot less convenient than a 20 minute tire change.
And the previous note about differential tire sizes potentially damaging your limited slip diff is correct, though I don't know if the technology has improved to where it is not an issue anymore.
But I also think that your overall tire diameter with your 20" wheels is not that different....there is not much room to increase diameter over the stock wheels.

Fix a flat additive voids most tire warranties. We charge an extra 10 bucks for a repair that has used fix a flat. The shop needs to clean your rim usually to remove all the gunk, some shops may not. In a pinch I guess its ok, and it doent always work.
id say keep it, if you do need to use it just make sure you never put it on the back, even if you get a flat on the back, move one of your 20s to the rear and put the spare in the front
This is a great reminder! I'd heard that a while back that the spare worked with the structure of the body in crash protection. I imagine the spare might be VERY necessary now! It might keep the guy who rear ends you from blowing up the gas tank?
