a heat gun would be overkill and may actually be too much heat. I've take stripes off of various cars over the years and never needed more than a blowdryer. I took stripes off of a car that was 15 years old....the stripes were yellowed and cracked. They pealed right off with a little heat.

Thanks for that info. I would've tried the heat gun. I've haven't even put mine on yet but I want to have a plan if I hose it up and need them off again. [&:]

Glad I mentioned it then; KFC is right; overkill for sure and can easily discolor, scortch, burn, bubble your paint; ...well some of those results may only occur if you've had a few too many beers but no, the heat gun is for much higher heat and agressive tasks; like removing older underbody undercoating on resto projects; just to name one use of many. Hair dryer is perfect and risk free unless you want to intentionally burn your paint; I guess you could. (lol)

heat gun is overkill, it'll melt the stripe on or make it MORE difficult that originally... a hairdryer is good but i dont have one so i just had to bear down and pick it off... heat guns are good for emblems

ORIGINAL: chidrock

a good way to remove them should be to use a blow dryer on them to warm up the glue, then peel them off. I haven't done it though...
It's a LOT easier. very simple. I took my v6 stripes off as well before i put my racing stripes on last year. It's much less time consuming to use the blow dryer for sure.

No hair dryer? what no hair? (lol); heck you coulda bought one for $7.99 at WalMat (lol)

Hair dryer is all you need on the Mustang emblems (I removed them); Won't speak for other vehicles. I just know that the haet gun I don't use it unless I REALLY need some significant heat (cause I usually end up burning a finger a too, in the process(lol); I might not wear gloves if I need a better sense of the heat it's putting out; then it's OUCH!!! or worse) ...Jim
