Default Breaking In

Hi there, I am new to this site but hope to be a member for quite a while. I just purchased my new 2005 Ford Mustang Roush Convertible and I was not sure about the breaking in. Do they have to be driven 55 to 65 for the first 3000 miles. My other cars I didn't but this one is a beauty. Thanks

keep the speeds different, and use all the rpms, dont be shifting at the redline everytime, but dont not shift above X amount of RPMs for the first 1k miles,

So I'm guessing buying it at the dealership and driving it 1000 miles to the port where it'll be shipped to the UK isn't a great idea then?

I've heard the Ford manual says to avoid prolonged periods of contunuous RPMs for the first 1000 miles, but how long is 'prolonged'? I mean could they have been any more vague? Do they mean ten minutes, four hours, two days, what?

I'm guessing that, given everyone else's comments (e.g. that the piston rings seat in the first few miles), I'll probably screw around on the interstate a little...55 one minute and 85 the next, but I don't wanna do anything that could be detrimental in the long run.

Although I AM liking the whole "drive it like ya done stoled it" ethos. "Get some, Junior!"

Drive it like you stoled it. That will vary the RPMs and speed.

You can drive it those 1000miles or you can spend a little and have it shipped via Horseless Carriage... Might just come out the same price wise considering gas is going way up

I bought my car and drove it home 900+ miles and I did the whole drive between 65-85 no cruise control, never at a constant speed very long just take it easy and the car will be fine. I just turned 4000 miles and everything is good.

I break it in like I'm going to drive it. I don't baby it or beat it. I bought it for fun on weekends and not my daily drive or long trips. That's just me though..
