I remeber when I used to work at a gas station, back when there was no self service, I would fill up the car and when the pump clicked off, gas would jusr pour back out of the car. It mainly happened on the ones that had the filler behind the license plate. Chrysler products were the worst ones.

My car is so new I've only filled it up once. But yep!! Fuel poured out all over the side of my car...... That was real nice!! The shutoff didn't work.

Try reading the fill procedure in the manual. It's the weirdest thing I've ever read. The whole thing didn't make any sense and I'm an automotive engineer here in Detroit.......

yeah i replaced the tank on my truck and forgot to pull the plug on the fumes-vent and it just spit the gas right back at me LOL. pissed me off

and on te stang, mine did that once, it just stopped at 3 gallons, but hasnt done it since. na dwhy would you need to use the "gallons used" thing, are you somewhere where there is no "gallons put in" readout on the gas pumps? unless it goes above 12 your not getting full. easy as that.

I have only filled at the BP right by my house and I look to see how much it's going to take by the gallons used. At full blast the pump shuts off about 1 gallon from full and then I slowly put the last gallon in and that works well and I don't have to pay too much attn. or hold it till the end.. I read where there was a problem and had my guard up from the begining..

I guess we are all not quite as wonderful as you are.

I dont go all the way to empty before I fill up and it's nice to know when to back off the flow of the pump so I don't get fuel spilling all over my paint..... but I still would like to get the car as full of fuel as I can.

Let me explain it a little more clearly for you......If the car tells me it has used 8 gallons and while I am pumping the gas, the pump says I have put in a little over 7 gallons, I will ease off on the trigger and slow the flow down until it's full.

Is that OK with you?
