Default Clutch

i finally got my 06 v6 (yay), but i cant seem to get the feel of this clutch. i have driven other stick cars with no problem before, but i am having trouble with my new pony. first, i can't get up a hill without spinning the tires for a while. second, after i do get up the hill there is sometimes a burning smell in the car. third, when i get going in 1st it sometimes does a weird bucking/jolting that scares the **** out of me. also, will any of this hurt my new car?

any info/advice on shifting would be very much appreciated.

i am most worried about the burning smell because it aint the tires and im wondering what is going on.

Telling someone how to shift on a hill is like trying to tell somone how to ride a bike...you just can't really relate what needs to be done in words.

Is the car brand new? What does it smell like is burning?

Bucking/jolting in first usually means that you're going off the clutch and onto the gas too quickly. If you're in stop-and-go traffic, you can start from second gear and get a bit of a smoother start. Or else (again, in stop-and-go traffic) you have to ride the clutch a bit more than you normally would (not to excess, just let off the clutch a bit slower -- this is what I mean about not being able to relate this stuff well in words). Another question, do you have the TCS? I do, so I can't really relate to tires spinning at all (unless I turn it off and lay rubber intentionally)...the TCS seems to work quite well in that regard, even with the stick.

It took me a while to get the feel for the soft clutch in my 05 GT also. I guess it comes from my experience with driving older stangs with the cable operated clutches. I believe these new mustangs have hydraulic clutches? Either way, it's alot more sensitive and takes some practice to get the feel for it. Just keep at it, you'll get it.

its definetly u destroying ur transmission too fast... practice on a hill babying the clutch and the gas u get it perfectly. what your doing is screwing up the transmission by having the clutch halfway in while revving the engine to try and start going. keep trying. gl

a ford mechanic (not from my dealership, and not AT a dealership) told me while filling up our tanks at the gas station that the v6 shifts rougher and less precise then a GT for money savings reasons. I have an auto, so i cant help you with the clutch thing...
