Default Door Drain Holes Plugged

Hi All,

I noticed the other day on my new GT that the frontmost drain holes in the lower doors have a black plastic cap of some sort in them. The holes in the rear section of the doors are open as I thought the others should be. This is at the bottom lower door lip area, both doors the same with a plastic cap covering the front holes. Every other car I've ever owned always had the holes open to allow any water in the doors to drain out after raining or washing. I was wondering if they forgot to remove the caps? Can anybody confirm with their doors?

Rich

you talking about the holes that look like slots? kinda about the size of a small french fry? IF that is what you mean, mine has a cap on the back one and none on the front. maybe the Gts have caps on the front, and V6's have them on the back lol

Yes, small slots maybe an inch long at the inner part of the bottom of the doors. As far as I've always known, they let any water drain out and prevents eventual rusting if water lays inside the door bottom. Mine has the rear slot open and the front one capped with some kind of plastic plug.

my gt had the plugs in the rear holes. no idea what purpose they might serve, but I took mine out. took my doors apart and filled the lower crimp with bedliner, blended smoothly into the drain holes to keep moisture out of the vertical crimp- my mark VII, my wifes windstar, my 93 F150, and my 85 camaro all started to get rust there first- hopefully not this car.

did you notice the holes in the metal 'flap' front of your rear tires??? I plugged those on my car- push a wire down in and it goes right inside the rocker panel- think Id prefer to keep dirt/salt/water out of there...
