That's very clean install! I'd glady pay $1K or even more for that! Don't really know about all the hard drive tech stuff- all I wanna do is play my home made cds!

Seems very cool...the only problem I see so far is the lack of an FM radio. I'm assuming you could run XM radio on it using the XMPCR card? Seems like it would work if it's a full blown PC. With all the goodies added, you'll be getting close to the price of the all in one AVIC-Z1 that just came out. It has many of the same features with about a 30G hard drive (I think) and it will play DVDs as well.

There are a few programs that are not in the pics that im running. 1 is Diagnose. Its an a OBD2 software/hardware interface. I personally like the gauge display. This is why i went the PC route, you can integrate a lot of the car into the PC if you know what your doing. Look at the new lexus systems, half of the damn car is integrated with the computer. To answer the other questions it will do FM and XM. The 'frontend' skin has menus for these also. You just need to plug in the respective hardware. I may get XM but ive got a large collection of MP3's that I like and its just on shuffle.

I know we were doing similar setup for our 06 Twin turbo sema vehicle. While intergrating the things that you have done were also trying to tune in boost controllers progrmas and diablosport programs. But great install man it looks very clean. SEMA worthy

One question I had was it looks like you were not able, since you didn't have it. Intergrate a shaker 500/1000 into this setup?

I recntly made the same modifications. I replaced the shaker 500 with a flip face lilliput touchscreen monitor, which actually has an fm tuner. I bought the CarPC from MP3Car.Com. I have the mini ampie with 100 gigs of hard drive space. I got the computer with the monitor for about $1300. Ill send pictures later. I have a question. Im in the process of replacing all speakers and adding amplifiers. Im still trying to decide on a brand. Either JL audio, DLS, Memphis, or MTX.

My car is all black. 2006 mustang GT convertible.

Im sure this is a dumb question, but I need to know. Basically, I wired the 6X8 speakers to the back of the monitor. They are fine. Now the 8s of course dont work. How should I reconnect these? Where are the amps for the 8 inch speakers? Can I put an aftermarket amp to them and is it even worth it? I was thinking of buying a cheap amp for now just to run them until I upgrade everything else. I cant live without at least some bass. Im going nuts. Do you have any suggestions?

Thank you for any help you can give.

Oh, a thought... Since it's runnning XP Pro, do you need to shut down the pc before you turn your car off? Or do you just hard boot it?

i would assume (or hope) he has a dc-dc power supply that shuts the computer off automatically 30 seconds after turning the car off to allow it proper boot-down cycle. i think the unit was called an opium or something like that, but i havent had a carputer for several years now so im not positive
