I use to work at a dealership(ford) it's definetely a good idea to leave a deposit. The would not be "locked " to you with out one. They could sell it to someone when the car came in if they got a better offer. I'm surprised they're still taking orders for '06s, the order may change to an '07 because the cut off date is next month!!

Ya, I put 1000k down, then when the car came in, it went toward the rest of the money I put down.

Me too ... Did the same exact thing $500 ... Except I waited 5 months for my Mineral Grey 05 & nothing ... Got my money back & went elsewhere ... Put down $1,000 & two months later I'm a proud owner of an 06 ...

Yeah I had to put down $500 because it was a ( dealer trade ) and it had everything I wanted on the car...

but if I where you ..!!!!!!. JMO I would wait for the 07's to come out.. not that long of a wait..

at least where I live.. on that note .. I was talking with my brother last night and told him what I bought,

a 06 GT with a auto trans.. 18" wheels.. anti theft.. leather seats.. interior upgrade package .. shacker 500 .. etc.. etc..

he said in California .. there is a wait on them cars and the price tag is way up there (30K AND UP FOR A GT LIKE WHAT I HAVE..?? ).. he couldn't believe what I paid for mine..

he said I should haul it to California and put a FOR SALE SIGN on it.. ( even though the person buying the car would have to put on

the emissions for California ) but what the hay.. I could make big bucks.. but I think I will keep her...

BUT, IF I had to do it all over again.. I would wait on a 07 ... I am 43 years old .. I have lived this long without it .. I can wait awhile

longer...

JMO on the 07 model.. yes I would get the Shelby .. oh yeah...

It's gotta be dealer descretion. I ordered mine over the phone, no mention of a deposit. Of course, I've bought 17 cars in the last 16 years from this salesman/dealership.

I'm a "little" ticked though. I ordered on March 1, '06 order cut-off was March 24, and '07 orders are being accepted since March 24, with production beginning June 5 and nothing being shipped until July 3.

This will give Ford a month to "stock up" with 15,000 units. as, they crank out 500 finished cars a day. The bad thing is 6 cyl-sticks and autos account for nearly 47% of the production. Deluxe units take another 15%, convertibles 15%. That leaves about 23% or 7 days a month for GT's. That is what the Ford Rep told me.

I also saw this info on another site, but I'll be damned if I can find it.
07's come with a new GT pkg--- hood scoops, side scoops, Pony motor emblems, passenger power seat, and Grabber ORANGE.
