It CAN make you slower if you spin the tires to the point where the traction control has to take over and slow you down. I raced with it ON two weeks ago and still came out with 13.3 on my first time at a drag strip, I didn't spin my tires that much though. I just waiting until the last amber light, then floored it, this was with an automatic too.

GOOD QUESTION ......TCS kinda "kills" power to the rear wheels if they begin to spin, intended for snow / ice driving. My LS would sit there and not rev up at all in snow, just sorta like it had a miss. So.......... I would think if your wheels began to spin at take-off TCS would kill the rear wheel power.
With the TCS off, you get a nice burn-out, and take off. So, I say yes TCS on makes you go slower. A little.
6 wks and still waiting in my very own GT, I hope it gets here soon.

It's not that it WILL but it CAN if it senses wheel slip. Just the posibility of it alone should always make you wanna turn it off before you race. I mean, realistically, it's pushing a whole button so it really doesn't take any technical skill. You are probably wondring if it's a myth and is actually better on and the specific answer to your question is NO, it cannot help you in any way havinhg it on and it can only slow you down if anything - so better to leave it off always when racing.

I accidentally left TCS on during a session a couple weeks ago...had it off for the previous 5 sessions but forgot to push the very complicated button before I gridded up. Anyway, it kicked in on a hairpin turn that I had handled well up until then and wound up almost having a Carerra S run up my backend....so in my case yes it made me slower

yeah, well, just intake and the 93 tune from Brenspeed. Menace was there too, he kinda had similar mods and he ran a 13.2 with a manual. It was our first time at a drag strip too, so we're hoping on improving our techniques. I really didn't know what I was doing to be honest with you, that's why I left the TCS on. I tried staging and trying to rev the engine up and just ended up spinning the tires, so I was like WTF!, so I just waiting there until the last amber light and floor it. No heating up the tires, taking air off, nothing! I had 3.90 gears installed since then though, I have UDPs and LCAs that I want to get installed too.
