How to program a new key??
I just got two new keys cut and can't figure out how to program them. My instructions say enter one key and turn to the on and back off, then enter a second key and turn on and off, and then enter a new key and leave on for one second and turn it back off and the security light will light for three seconds and will be programmed. Problem is I don't have the second original key, that is why I needed a couple new keys. How else can this be done with just one original key??
Thanks for the help!!!

RE: How to program a new key??
You should have received two original keys with your new car.
Did they only give you one or did you lose one?
They also should have given you a small tag (with a bar code on it) along with the original two keys. You may need to take it to Ford to get a new programmed key if all you have is one original key and one blank key.

Yeah, your stuck with a trip to the dealer. I had the same problem with my daughter's 2003 mustang. They said they had to wipe the code and reenter it again or enter a new code, whichever it was its gonna co$t. I plan to get a third key when I get my firts service.[]

Isnt the transmitter the same way? need both origional transmitters to program a new one?
I think its time I make a 3rd set for this car, lol. Never lost any keys or keyfobs on other cars, but always a 1st time for everything.
Ebay I think is the best place to look no?
The keys and fobs are the same for some other ford vehicles arent they?

RE: How to program a new key??
I've been through this headache with my F150 and my Mustang...
I now tell people to make a third key ASAP or if I'm buying a new Ford product I insist that the dealer supply me the third programmed key as part of the deal...
You need BOTH original keys to make a third key... if you lose an original key it will cost you around $100.00 to have a new key made plus the cost of the key.... Unless you have been up against this crap it's hard to grasp the concept...
I just bought a new Freestyle for my wife and the first thing I did was have the third key made....
I dont' think this applies to the keypad -
