Default 3v bottom end

Whats the deal with the 3v bottom end. i see all these supercharger test with them turning out 500+ rwhp. i know its an aluminum block but are the rods, pistons and crank that much better than the 2v motor? is in an 8 bolt or 6 bolt? i am thinking about trading the 04 for an 05 or a gto.

If I'm right the 3V engines in the GT's are not aluminum. Probably why your not seeing alot of bore kits for them.

s197 has an aluminum block. this is why the gt500 weight distribution is almost 60/40, and the gt is 53/47 (iron block+blower vs alum block). the primary weakness seems to be the rods, and after that the pistons. it seems that the crank is good for 600+ crank hp given the 500rwhp some have put down. the powdered rods seem to be stable for long periods up to about 550 crank hp, and the pistons seem to hold up fine as long as there is no detonation to put toooo much stress on them.

nice thats what i need. to hear i think 475-525hp is more than plenty for a daily driven street car. i think im going to trade the 04 in and start moding an 05!
